What do Lady Gaga, Antoine Dodson and "Friday" sensation Rebecca Black have in common? Huge, viral Internet presences ? ones that MTV plans to celebrate with its First Annual 'O' Awards.
MTV told press this of the new venture, "Music consumption has never been greater, and it's hugely important to our audience. We felt like the time was right to look at the convergence of technology and music fans and the YouTube celebrities who've created this new ecosystem where music is exploding."
Among the categories up for grabs: "The Best Fan Cover Award," which will be duked out between die-hard lovers of Tokio Hotel, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Nicki Manaj, and Rihanna, among others.
Voting for the The Awards begin online today (April 5) - with the show set to air April 28th on MTV.com, VH1.com, Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites.
